Back in February, we reported on the account of New York City woman who was the victim of a most unusual sneaker crime. The thief only took one of her shoes before taking off. At the time of reporting it was thought to be a rather peculiar one-off oddity.
Apparently this has unfortunately proven not to be true, as this is just one of a multiple attacks by this serial sneaker snatcher. The first such reported incident took place on January 24 when the suspect followed a woman into an accountant’s office in East Flatbush and stole the shoe off her right foot.
The latest incident occurred in late May at the Rego Center mall in Rego Park. According to police, the 24-year-old victim was walking in the mall’s parking garage located on Queens Boulevard at approximately 12:15 pm, when the sneaker snatcher approached her and removed her left shoe.
The alleged sneaker snatcher has not yet been apprehended and anyone with pertinent information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
